It’s January. The short days are cold, the evenings cloaked early in darkness. Time for a little distraction methinks; and what better way to keep busy then to plan the coming year’s harvest.
I’ve made a list of all this plants that grew well last year; I’ll probably grow the pumpkins in the polytunnel this year as the wet, mild autumn in 2014 made mildew a problem for them outside.
A definite success last year were the beetroots. Their versatility and delicious flavour in salads, soups and as roasted roots made them a huge family favourite.
As I browse the seed catalogues; I can almost taste the heritage lettuce and Italian tomatoes drizzled with a little extra virgin olive olive.
